Matt Guthmiller has spent his life looking for fresh challenges to tackle and new obstacles to overcome. This spring he will attempt his latest and greatest when he starts on the first leg of his One Month, 30,000 mile journey, which will take him everywhere from New York City to London, Greece, the Middle East, Hawaii and more, as he seeks to Become the Youngest Pilot Ever to Fly Solo Around the World.

“Nothing is Impossible for an Aviator” says Captain Guthmiller.

“And I’ve never been the kind of person to just hang around and wait for great things to happen. If you really want to achieve something great you have to go out and get it.”

His love of flying dates back even to before the hundreds of hours he logged on flight simulator games as a child, but the impetus for this latest adventure came when, while browsing the internet for fresh flights to attempt, he came across an AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) article about California’s Jack Wiegand, who set the record last spring by circumnavigating the globe at the age of 21.

“I immediately thought ‘I can do that,’” said Guthmiller.

“Setting a record is exciting, but records are made to be broken,” says Guthmiller.

“My real goal is to inspire other young people to attempt things of a similar magnitude.
That’s what I hope to accomplish with this flight.”

Tripple Dip Global Recession Laid Off in New York again

Tripple Dip Global Recession Laid Off in New York again

What's your greatest struggle right now ?

Job Security in Tripple Dip Global Recession.

I had one Job for Nineteen Years, and right as I was starting to get lulled into a Sense of Security, I got Laid Off.

The Next Job I had for One Year, then I got Laid off again,

At my new job, I am not even listed as an Employee.

I am Listed as a  Senior Consultant.

So it would be very easy to get rid of me.

And both of my Kids are about to start College very Soon.

Second Life

Must read!!

Second Life

Husband      : RobRobinn Rob
WRobinfe     : LRobinnda  Rob
Son          : MRobinke
Girl Friend  : Jane
Place        : Ausin TX USA

When Robin got home that night as his wife Linda served dinner, Robin held her hand

and said, I’ve got something to tell you. She sat down and ate quietly. Again Robin

observed the hurt in her eyes.

Suddenly Robin didn’t know how to open his mouth. But he had to let her know what

he was thinking.

I want a Divorce. Robin raised the topic calmly. Linda didn’t seem to be annoyed by

his words, instead she asked me softly, Why ?

Robin  avoided her question. This made her angry. She threw away the chopsticks and

shouted at me, you are not a Man! That night, we didn’t talk to each other. She was

weeping. Robin knew she wanted to find out what had happened to our marriage.

Linda was weeping. Robin knew she wanted to find out what had happened to our

marriage. But Robin could hardly give Linda Rob  a satisfactory answer; she had

lost my heart to Jane. Robin dindn’t love Linda Rob  anymore.

Robin just pintined Linda Rob !

With a deep sense of guilt, Robin  drafted a Divorce  Agreement which stated that Linda  could own our House, Our Cars, Our Scooty and 50% Stake of my Company. Linda

glanced at it and then tore it into pieces. The woman who had spent ten years of her life with Robin  had become a stranger. Robin  felt sorry for Linda wasted Time, Resources and Energy but He could not take back what he had said for I loved Jane so dearly.

Finally Linda cried loudly in front of Robin , which was what Robin  had expected to see. To Robin  her cry was actually a kind of release. The idea of Divorce which had obsessed Robin  for several weeks seemed to be firmer and clearer now.

The next day, Robin  came back home very late and found Linda writing something at the table. Robin  didn’t have Dinner but went straight to sleep and fell asleep very fast because Robin  was tired after an eventful Day with Jane.

When Robin  woke up, she was still there at the table writing. Robin  just did not care so Robin  turned over and was asleep again.

In the morning Linda presented her Divorce Conditions : Linda didn’t want anything

from me, but needed a month’s notice before the Divorce. She requested that in that
one month we both struggle to live as Normal a Life as Possible. Her reasons were simple : Our son Mike had his exams in a month’s time and she didn’t want to disrupt him with our Broken Marriage.

This was agreeable to Robin.  But she had something more, she asked Robin  to

recall how I had carried her into out bridal room on our Wedding Day. She requested

that every day for the month’s duration I carry her out of our Bedroom to the front

door ever morning. Robin  thought she was going crazy. Just to make our last days

together bearable Robin  accepted her odd request.

Robin  told Jane about Linda’s Divorce conditions. . She laughed loudly and thought

it was absurd. No matter what tricks Linda applies, she has to face the Divorce,
Jane said scornfully.

My wife Linda and Robin  hadn’t had any body contact since Robin's  divorce intention was explicitly expressed. So when Robin  carried her out on the first day, they both appeared clumsy. Their Son Mike clapped behind them, Daddy is holding mommy in his arms. His words brought Robin  a sense of pain.

From the bedroom to the sitting room, then to the door, Robin  walked over ten meters with Linda in his arms. She closed her eyes and said softly; Please don’t tell our son Mike about the Divorce.

Robin  nodded, feeling somewhat upset.

Robin  put her down outside the door.

Linda went to wait for the bus to work.

Robin  drove alone to the office.

On the second day, both of us acted much more easily. She leaned on Robin  chest.

Robin  could smell the Old fragrance of her Blouse.

Robin  realized that Robin  hadn’t looked at this woman carefully for a long time.
Robin  realized she was not Young any more.

There were fine wrinkles on her face, her hair was graying! Our marriage had taken its toll on her.

For a minute Robin  wondered what I had done to her.

On the fourth day,

when Robin  lifted her up, Robin  felt a sense of intimacy returning. This was the woman who had given ten years of her life to me.

On the Fifth and Sixth Day,

Robin  realized that our sense of intimacy was growing again. Robin  didn’t tell

Jane about this. It became easier to carry her as the month slipped by. Perhaps the everyday workout made me stronger.

Linda was choosing what to wear one morning. She tried on quite a few dresses but could not find a suitable one. Then she sighed, all my dresses have grown bigger.

Robin  suddenly realized that she had grown so thin, that was the reason why Robin  could carry her more easily.

Suddenly it hit me… she had buried so much pain and bitterness in her heart.

Subconsciously Robin  reached out and touched her head.

Son Mike came in at the moment and said, Dad, it’s time to carry Mom out.

To him, seeing his father carrying his mother out had become an essential part of his life. Robin's  wife gestured to our son to come closer and hugged Mike tightly.

Robin  turned his face away because he was afraid he might change my mind at this last minute. Robin  then held her in his arms, walking from the bedroom, through

the sitting room, to the hallway.

Her hand surrounded my neck softly and naturally. I held her body tightly; it was
just like our wedding day.

But her much lighter weight made me sad.

On the last day, when Robin  held her in his arms he could hardly move a step.

Son Mike had gone to school.

Robin  held her tightly and said, I hadn’t noticed that our life lacked intimacy.

Robin  drove to Office…. jumped out of the Car swiftly without locking the door.

Robin  was afraid any delay would make me change my mind…

Robin  walked upstairs. Jane opened the door and Robin  said to her, Sorry, Jane, I do not want the Divorce anymore.

She looked at me, astonished, and then touched my forehead.

Do you have a fever?

She said.

I moved her hand off my head.

Sorry, Jane, Robin  said, I won’t divorce.

My marriage life was boring probably because she and I didn’t value the details of

our lives, not because we didn’t love each other anymore.

Now I realize that since I carried her into my home on our wedding day I am

supposed to hold her until death do us apart.

Jane seemed to suddenly wake up.

She gave Robin a loud slap and then slammed the door and burst into tears.

Robin walked downstairs and drove away. At the floral shop on the way,

He ordered a bouquet of flowers for his wife.

That evening Robin  Arrived Home,

Flowers in his hands, a Smile on his Face,

At least, in the eyes of our son—-

I’m a loving Husband and Dad ….

What is this Great Global Recession –

Great Global Recession is normally Defined as a significant Decline in Activity across the Economy, Lasting longer than a Few Months. It is mainly visible in Industrial Production, General Employment, Per-capita Income and Wholesale & Retail Trade.

A normal Indicator of Great Global Recession is Two Consecutive Quarters of Negative Economic Growth which is measured by a Country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Recession is a Global Phenomena. About 90% of the working Population has been directly affected by it worldwide. The People indirectly affected by Recession are the Families of Workers. We will go into more depth of this Global Crisis in detail in this as-well-as following Chapters.

To understand Great Global Recession We needs to go back 30 Years Back and devide
into 3 decades. We will start with the Industry which was the starting Point of this Disease.  The IT and ITES (Information Technology Enabled Services) Industry. Before
Great Global Recession we had seen Boom Time [ 1990 - 2005 ] and Great Globalization all over. The Reason for the Great Global Recession

1981 – 1990 :
It all started way back in 1980s when the Transition from Papers to Digital form was just beginning world wide and the Boom which we witnessed 20 years back, was in its initial Phase. This was a Time when even Television was seen as a Luxury. Lifestyle and Infrastructure was very basic and Education till Graduation was appreciated a lot. Letters which were typed using Typewriters instead of hand-written ones, were considered more important. People were aware about the presence of Computers somewhere on Earth but seeing one and working on it was still a far-fetched Dream. Even imagining one was impossible for many upper-Middle class individuals. The Terms ‘Information Technology (IT)’ and ‘Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES)’, which are commonly used now, were not even coined.

By the end of 80s, various Typewriting Courses were on its peak and Typewriting Speed was a main criteria of Selection for various positions in Offices. It opened a lot of Job opportunities for People especially Middle-class Girls, who became employable after Basic Education and doing a course in Typewriting which was also out-of-reach for many Households.  So New IT Companies who could work on DOS and Software Engineers who could work on DOS or Fox Pro were in Great Demand and were treated as Gods. So the Demand for So called Software or IT professionals were at High. All of them were getting paid heavily. Due to heavy Demand for B Tech [ CS / IT ]  MBA, MCA and related Courses were given umpteen Value and MBAs of 25-26 years of Age, were recruited with High starting Pay-packages. There was a sea-gap between the Youths of the same Age who used to get USD  10,000 – 15,000 PA  with the same Years of quality Education and the Youths of 21st Century who started getting USD $ 20,000 – $ 80,000 PA.  after doing MBAs or MCAs. Per-Capita Incomes boomed further with many Students getting recruited to IT Companies and other flourishing Industries at various levels with ever increasing Salaries. Youths were affording Expensive Cars, five Star Hotels and Travel By Air. Even they were buying expensive Real Estate.

1991 – 2000 :

End of 1980s and beginning of 1990s saw the introduction of Computers in India by our Former Prime Minister, Late Captain Rajiv Gandhi. It was a Revolution in Indian Industry and we are still grateful to Capt Gandhi for the same. By the middle of the Decade, the basic Infrastructure was completed.

Computerisation of various Government Offices was rampant as a much-required drive. Demand for Typewriting Courses started slowing down and its place was taken up by Computer Courses. Various big and small Computer Training Institutes mushroomed like NIIT, APTECH, UPTECH etc, besides several others throughout the Country. Demand by Students to learn operating a Computer was extreme and supply was low.

Demand for Computer-Literate Professionals for various Government and Private Jobs also flourished and a better Future was welcoming everybody. Even little Knowledge of Computers was enough. The Per-Capita Income increased with the opening up of various Entrepreneurial Ventures wholly based on Computers. Many new Courses on Software and Hardware Engineering in Colleges came up which witnessed a heavy interest by Students. Also, the Fees for such Courses was Sky-High but yet the Demand was at its peak too. Thus, by the end of this Decade, we saw the dawn of Information Technology in India which was set to position India firmly on the Global Map of Technical expertise.

2001 – 2010 :

The advent of 21st Century was special. Computers had established themselves in India and Supply of IT Education was equal to the Demand. Lots of Management Colleges also mushroomed and were in high Demand. MBA, MCA and related Courses were given umpteen Value and MBAs of 25-26 years of Age, were recruited with high starting Pay-packages. There was a sea-gap between the Youths of the same Age who used to get USD $ 10,000 – 15,000 PA - with the same Years of quality Education and the Youths of 21st Century who started getting USD $ 20,000 – USD $ 80,000 PA after doing MBAs or MCAs. Global Booming Industries in 2001 – 2010

Banking Industry
Education Industry
Real Estate Industry

The main Industries which were indirectly affected by this Boom were Aviation, Hospitality, Real Estate and Banking.

More-and-more people, at this time, started travelling by Trains, even for Long Distances. They started opting to stay at a 2-Star Hotel on Vacations in place of 4 or 5-Star, which their Parents preferred. This happened due to the Less or No Incomes within Families. So, in short, the Graph was going Lower in consonance with the Stock Exchange and India’s GDP, which was nearing 6% by the end of the last Decade.
Due to very Less Demand for B Tech [ CS / IT ]  MBA, MCA and related Courses were given No Value and MBAs of 22-26 years of Age, were  High starting No Pay-packages. There was
Youths were struggling a lot for a Small Jobs in IT or Management Sectors.

2011 – Present: Whatever goes up has to come down. Everything in the World is Cyclical in Nature and situations repeat themselves. Similarly, with every Boom comes a blast too. Too much of anything is dangerous and this is what is happening since the end of the last Decade. Because of so much Demand, lots of IT and Management Institutes came up in every nook-and-corner and were charging heavy Fees. But, Jobs were limited and Supply of Job-seekers was high. The result was that even highly-qualified MBAs, MCAs and Engineers were not getting the Jobs they deserved and they started opting for low-paying Jobs which were nowhere related to their Qualifications.

As in the time of Boom, the Industries worst affected during this low-Phase were Aviation, Hospitality, Real Estate and Banking along with IT. The GDP currently is trailing at the levels of around 5% which is very very low when compared to that of last decade.

The Professionals directly affected were Software Engineers and Management people. Those who were indirectly affected were Bankers and Aviation Professionals. There was a lot of Competition within the Industries as many big and small Businesses came up and it affected the Financial Health of these Corporations. The Times were very different than those from 1995 – 2000 when only a few Companies enjoyed Monopolies. Many Corporations started filing for Bankruptcies now and were Firing their Staffs. Highly Qualified people were now becoming Jobless and were settling for low-paying Jobs.

As a result, people have started downgrading their Lifestyle now. They are again opting for Trains than Flights. This has been proved by the dismal Performances of all the Airlines in India since last few Years. They are again settling for 2-3 Star Hotels. So, overall they are again downgrading their Life which is very very difficult as they are used to a flamboyant Lifestyle.

This is what has been termed as Recession which was witnessed in 2008 and is again raising its Hood. There are a lot of Lessons to be learnt both by our Governments and Industry Intelligentsia otherwise situation can go out of control.

The above was a Synopsis of the Reason for the Crisis which has affected all of us in some way or the other. In the following Chapters, we will discuss the Subject in more detail.

1) Economic boompreceding the crash.

2) A Recession going on for a while. Mostly top gurus and players in business and government were aware of it. General public did not realize it for a while and remained in the mood of boom. By the time the Recession and economic slow down becomes known in general public it is too late. Large proportion of small investors and general public looses every thing they had and owned.

3) During the boom, before crash, under the influence of corporations and their lobbies, government ventures out in the world, mostly in the form of war or wars, to claim more influence and control in international affairs and in the national affairs of other countries, resulting into huge debts and deficits.

4) Bad Business Practices getting more and more common in Corporates and Banks, right before crash.

5) Growing unemployment, under-employment, and seriously compromised buying power of average consumer.

Objectives

We will be reviewing two major causes of Recession of 2008, the preexisting low interest rate and high risk investments made due to low government regulations especially in the housing market. It was observed that around 2001, the government to boost the economic growth lowered the interest rate and for the most of the boom period of 2001-2007 it remained under 1%. It gave business and people access to abundance in easy credit which resulted in economic growth. As we will review, it is usually a short term measure and the adverse effects of such growth rise up sooner or later. The second area of focus will be high risk investment. The low interest rate persuaded investors to seek an alternative of secure government investments with low returns to more profitable avenues with high risk. One of the chief areas was the sub-prime markets as the investors had already utilized the credit-worthy borrowers and now they moved to riskier investments with high returns. The subprime mortgage became the favorite for investment as the regulations were relaxed to allow disadvantage people to obtain homes.

Literature Review

We will be reviewing the literature on the two causes of the Recession. First we will be reviewing the interest rate will be going through the studies which recommends that its effects on economic growth. We will be also looking at the effect of interest rate other decisions which caused the investors to opt for high risk investments and sub-prime investments...
