Geetika: Kanda-Aruna's custody extended

A Delhi court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of former Haryana minister Gopal Goyal Kanda and his aide MDLR Airlines employee Aruna Chaddha by 14 days in connection to ex-air hostess Geetika Sharma suicide case.

The Delhi Police told the court that investigation in the case is still on and requested for an extension of Kanda and Aruna's custody.

Metropolitan Magistrate Bhupinder Singh remanded Kanda and Chaddha to judicial custody till Sept 25.

Kanda and Aruna were produced in the court through video conferencing from Rohini Jail.

Earlier on Aug 28, Kanda, the key accused in Geetika Sharma suicide case, was sent to 14- day judicial custody.

Aruna's custody was extended till Sept 11 on Aug 30.

Bollywood starlet Nupur Mehta had said Kanda was a playboy who always wanted to be surrounded by beautiful women.

Nupur worked as the vice-president in the now defunct MDLR Airlines.

Pertinently, MDLR airline was floated by Kanda.

"Gopal Kanda is a playboy who loves to be surrounded by beautiful and sexy ladies," Nupur told media.

"The airlines recruited around 63 employees on the Day one and interestingly there were 60 female employees on the day when it closed,” she said.

“With time, Geetika fell into Kanda’s trap and became close to him. Kanda had illicit relationships with many of his employees. One proof of his illicit relation is Ankita Singh, who also has a child with him," Nupur said.

She said: "In 2010, due to the shutdown of MDLR airlines, Geetika left the company and joined Emirates. This made Kanda possessive about her."

She alleged that Aruna supplied and managed the women.

Earlier Kanda said he had not been in touch with Geetika for about 45 days prior to her death.

Geetika was found dead on August 5 at her Ashok Vihar residence in North-West Delhi.

The police reportedly got a suicide note from Geetika's apartment where she blamed Kanda for breaking her 'trust'.

She had left MDLR Airlines and joined another company.

She later quit the second job to study MBA.
